Hermano Bernabé

A life lived with dignity and respect is the right of every human being, and only when this right is recognized, for all, will we have a just and peaceful world.
— Bernabé Yujra

Bernabé Yujra, with Scholarship students from Los Amigos INELA Church in La Paz Bolivia.

Bernabé Yujra, social worker and founder of Fundación Quakera de Educación Boliviano (FQEB) was raised in a Quaker family, educated in a Quaker school, and actively participates in the Los Amigos INELA Church in La Paz, Bolivia.

In 2002, Bernabé met Newton Garver, and during their conversation, they found common ground in their desire to support Andean Quaker families. Together, they merged their visions, and initiated programs in higher education, offering scholarships and academic support to Quaker students from rural and suburban areas. Their goal was to help young Quakers commit to self-improvement and positively impact their communities.

From 2003 to 2023, Bernabé and his staff in Bolivia have supported 223 students in earning university degrees across various fields of study. Bernabé sends his heartfelt appreciation to our Global Quaker Friends for their unwavering support of Andean Quaker families.
